Hi, I am Alex, a seasoned composer hailing from Hamburg, Germany, with a prosperous 17-year-long career in the trailer music and video game industry.

In 1998, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my passion for music at the Los Angeles College of Music. My journey into the realm of trailer music began in 2005 when I composed my first license track for Dynamedion.

Over the years, I've collaborated with prestigious music production companies such as Two Steps from Hell, Epic Score, Liquid Cinema, Gothic Storm, Position Music, and many more.

My compositions have graced the trailers of renowned movies like Pacific Rim, Sherlock Holmes, and Harry Potter, to name a few. Currently, my music can be heard across 60+ TV shows worldwide.

My musical scores have added depth to numerous popular titles in the video game sphere.

These include CHORUS, Company of Heroes 3, Crysis 2, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Battleforge, Vikings: Wolves of Midgard, Sacred 2, Galaxy on Fire 3, Arcania, Runes of Magic, Risen, John Woo's Stranglehold, Dragon's Prophet, Tian Xia 3, The Settlers VII, ANNO 1404, Kinect Rush, Black Prophecy, DarkStar One, HCA: The Ugly Prince Duckling, and more.

In addition, I've had the honor of working alongside industry giants such as Mick Gordon (DOOM 2016), Trevor Morris (The Tudors), and Frank Peterson (Sarah Brightman).

I've also written numerous tracks for nearly every leading sample library company, further diversifying my portfolio.

What our students have to say

"Having heard great tracks from Alex Pfeffer and by enjoying the high quality content of his YouTube channel, I knew his Trailer Music Course would be an excellent learning experience. The course is packed with practical information on the process of composing trailer music and comprehensive walkthroughs of five tracks, providing a detailed look into his musical workflow, followed by the reasons behind his choices. It also features a valuable section of business advice for this industry."

Carlos Dohrn, composer

"Alex is a wealth of information and "Trailer Music Essentials" is an absolute treasure trove! From structure through harmony and basic theory, arrangement techniques, melody, and original sound design, all the way to the mix, master, and final delivery - it's all here. And the course is just getting started! After you've learned all this, you embark on a massive deep-analysis journey through 3 major-label trailer tracks plus 2 more exclusive tracks written specifically for the course. With the very last section dedicated to the business side of making trailer music, there is really no stone left unturned. "

Zahari S., LA-based Audio mixer, Film Sound Mixer, and Educator

"The course and the website are very well organized. The number of details is astonishing! I've recently switched my music career focus to trailer music production and this is a perfect place to start."

Mirza A., Composer

"Having already taken a number of the other trailer courses online, I can safely say that Alex’s course offers a better value (especially if you get in during the early access period!) and easier to follow curriculum than the competition. He lays out fundamentals from structure to mixing in an easy to follow way that you can put into practice regardless of the style of music you write. Offering the foundation of ‘why’ and then giving you the ‘how to’ is one of Alex’s strong advantages here. Recommended."

Mike R., composer/engineer specializing in Production, Dance, and Hybrid Orchestral music

"I've taken quite a few trailer courses and I'm not new to the trailer music business, I've writtena few cues for a publisher and although I haven't landed a proper trailer yet (besides a TV promo), I came very close to landing the theatrical trailer to Toy Story 4 and How to Train Your Dragon, however at the last minute, both were swapped out. Then I knew, there must be something that is just not quite right that I'm doing, so I enrolled in Alex's course, mainly for his insane production skills, but I have learned compositional/arrangement techniques that the other courses failed to give me. Alex's method is concise and to the point, with each video providing a ton of valuable information. I know my future tracks will now be where they need to be to land the deal! Highly recommend."

Gavin Potter - music composer

"I had the pleasure of taking the trailer music course and it was truly a game-changer for me. The course provided me with invaluable insights that helped me to improve my trailer tracks significantly. As a result, I am proud to say that my music has been featured in major campaigns for World of Warcraft, Overwatch 2, Hearthstone, BMW, and many more. I am extremely grateful for the course and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their trailer music production skills. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and please continue to do so!"

Arjan Terpstra, Composer

"This is an absolute gem of a course. I love the structured content as well as your detailed and thorough approach. It's so well organized, all with a wealth of material. Seeing your workflow and process has made me approach composing trailer music differently, from start to finish. I now feel so much more equipped and confident when composing my tracks. Thank you, Alex!"
